So every time I open the door from our hallway into our foyer I’m reminded of that screen in Beetlejuice where the deceased (unbeknownst to them) characters open their door and find their house floating above a desert filled with giant man eating worms…
Incidentally, We now block the foyer door to both protect ourselves from the worms and to protect the worms from a wandering half- awake-in-the-middle of the night Aaric and his adventurous likes-to-stand-really-close-to-dangerous-edges-whenever-the-opportunity-presents-itself brother Kier.
I think it ‘a safe to say we are now well outside the realm of what Robb and I expected. We figured they’d pull up everything above the heart pine, patch where needed and then sand and finish. But instead… They pulled it all up, including the heart pine which has been denailed and set aside. They’ll relay it over a subfloor (which this old house didn’t come with)… But wait … There’s more …
On Monday the contractor is having the sagging corner of our house jacked up and placed on new footings. I requested a definition of “jacked up” but was only met with a laugh.
i’m scared.
