The nurse started Aaric’s courage beads today – each bead represents an event, i.e. a black bead for every poke / blood draw, yellow for CICU admission, etc. The string just keeps getting longer and we can’t wait until he earns his discharge beads.
In addition to the beads we were given our first look at his post op chest x-ray – if you look closely you can see the metal wires used to suture his sternum. Note that his heart is pretty darn big (a result of all of the work it has been doing for the last 6 months). For those of you who may still be trying to spot the heart – its the big gray blob in the right side of the picture which should be the size of his fist but is clearly much bigger…
