11:12am – Surgeon’s report. Everything went as expected, hole has been patched and there was no evidence of damage to the conductive tissue during patching (which means that he should not require a pacemaker). He did have a bit of thickening of the muscles leading to the lungs which the surgeon divided to help ease blood flow problems (to the lungs) and alleviate the need for future remedy. The only other issue is that pesky little pulmonary vein going into the wrong chamber – basically it was too risky (versus reward) to fix today for what could be a moot issue (one that will not present any symptoms or issues long term). Basically all is well, about an hour before we get to see the little guy and his entourage of monitors…
