Went to visit uncle Tad today and tour the fire station. Sadly the station had no fire pole for us to slide down but we did get to see the trucks and experience the station alarm being sounded thanks to a kindly request humored by dispatch… Didn’t sound quite like we expected (no obnoxiously loud ringing bell) – seems the alarms have been modified to a buzzing sound. The old ringing was found to raise the heart rate to precipitously – guess you want to avoid using the ambulance for your own guys… Also learned that dispatch has control over the lights in the bunk area ( they come on when dispatch sounds the alarm) – I could never be trusted with such power… Pranks galore would ensue.
