SERIOUSLY ?!? – Part 3

So post Nina’s fender bender we head back to our house so Nina can leave her car out front and borrow Robb’s Acura.  We walk up the driveway noting Robb’s car parked in front of the garage and go in to get the keys.

Before I go on, I must digress a bit.  Robb’s car has had a Yakima bike rack on top for well over 15 years now, we’ve adorned it with stickers from ski slopes around the country, and have used the heck out of it transporting our bikes, canoe, christmas trees, etc.  Yesterday we discussed removing the rack as we don’t have as much need for it with the new Subaru (thanks Mom Mom),  and because we want to have the car repainted, plus it has always proved a detriment to the Acura’s gas milage (which is terrible to begin with).

So, back to walking up the driveway and into the house.  Once inside I tell Robb that his car looks good without the rack, much sportier.   He, with Aaric screaming in his arms looks at me and says, “what?”  So I repeat myself which annoys me and my hungry belly but this time recieve a “huh, rack, what rack?” in response.  So I clarify, “your car looks better without the bike rack on top.”  Robb, “what?”  Me, “the car, without the rack, oh forget it.”

Well this goes on for about 10 more seconds before Robb runs to the window and exclaims, “the racks gone !!  Where’s the rack?”  Nina and I find his attempt at a joke funny… that is until we discover that he isn’t joking… which really, sadly, made it funnier !!

Yep – someone stole the rack – just the rack.  Not the car, not the bag in the truck, just the 15 year old bike rack – which, incidentally was locked to the top of the car…

If you read SERIOUSLY !! – part 2 you know that about Nina’s fender bender just 35 mins prior which left us, conviently, with a City of Decatur police card handy.  We called the station and true to form Officer Speedy sped out once again.  Aaric and I were dealing with bathtime so I can only imagine his amusement when he saw Nina greet him in the driveway and his further amusement when Robb told him what was stolen.  Definately his first 15 year old bike rack off top of car while car was parked in victims driveway report.

All in all, a SERIOUSLY annoying week…
